Paris is full of places to explore. Yet I love nothing better than returning to Le Verre Volé where tasty food & natural wine never fail to make me smile. Skip the tourist traps and head to Paris 10th!
Located on vibrant Rue de Lancry, Le Verre Volé is one of my safe bets in the city. Popular corner bistro that serves simple yet inventive, lovingly prepared food – and classics with a twist. Ribs, boudin noir, lentilles de Puy… you name it! As much as I love Italy, I also admit that the bruschetta of Le Verre Volé is among the best I’ve tasted.
The dishes are colourful, the space is compact and lively – partly because the kitchen is in the middle. Wines by the glass are written on the chalkboard, and the selection varies nicely.
However, I always let the boys suggest me wine pairings. They really know their stuff.
As many small, super popular places in Paris 10th, Le Verre Volé tends to get crowded. Make sure to arrive in advance or secure your spot by booking. I’ve often turned up about 20 minutes before they open the doors for lunch and waited outside.
Despite its location in a hip bobo neighbourhood, Le Verre Volé has kept feet on the ground, staying true to its authentic food and atmosphere.

On summer evenings, I love popping into Le Verre Volé before joining wine-sipping locals on the banks of Canal Saint-Martin. From the shelves filled with beautiful French natural wines to take away, you also find divine grower champagnes in magnum size.
Seafood on Rue de Lancry
Having fallen for Le Verre Volé a few years ago, I also recommend the seafood place, Verre Volé Sur Mer (now called Comptoir Sur Mer). Same street, same laid-back atmosphere. Come early, grab a seat at the comptoir and enjoy the freshest flavours!

Above all, seafood lovers couldn’t be happier as the menu includes fish and shellfish; from oysters to squid, razor clams, shrimps, sashimi to ceviche. Sur Mer is all about fresh, nicely seasoned dishes at a colourful setting. What else does a Paris lover need?

UPDATE (2026): Le Verre Volé has often been my pitstop when I continue from Gare de l’Est to French wine regions. Besides, La Cave Oberkampf (the Verre Volé wine shop) still delights me with its huge natural wine selection on 38 Rue Oberkampf in Paris 11th. Mon 16–20, Tue-Sat 10–13 and 16–20, Sun 10–13.
